Christmas

The most wonderful and most worthwhile part of Christmas this year is a tradition that started in my family about 4 years ago, and thanks to a very loving Heavenly Father, was able to continue this year. This tradition is to do a Christmas Eve drop. Sometimes there's more than one car of us with additional family coming along for the ride and enjoyment. Each year, we have been led to a family that has not had a lot, if anything for Christmas and have wrapped age-appropriate gifts and left them on the doorstep. We park down the street, Ryan rings the doorbell and hides, and once the family has gone back inside, we drive away and go and have our own Christmas Eve. This year, Christmas wasn't really feeling very Christmas-y, and we didn't have a family in mind. I was really worried that we wouldn't be able to continue the tradition, but, almost at the last minute, a way was provided and we got to do a little bit of good. I can't express how quickly my heart was lifted and how happily I looked on the remainder of the season. It finally felt like Christmas!

Watching my kids open presents, having family over, eating 'till we dropped - all of this was great, but the most worthwhile was feeling like we had done something for someone else.
